The Slovenian Institute of Auditors

The Slovenian Institute of Auditors (SIA) is a non-profit organization and the leading professional body dedicated to supporting, and developing the auditing, accounting and valuation professions. Established in 1993, SIA acts both as a professional association and as the national regulator in accounting and valuation. It operates in line with Slovenian legislation, European regulations, and international standards, ensuring high-quality practices that promote transparency, integrity, and trust in financial reporting and business practices. Today, more than 1,000 experts are engaged in its activities.

A core function of the Institute is the independent and professional development of key professions under its scope. These include auditors, certified internal auditors, certified accountants, certified information systems auditors, certified valuers, certified tax professionals and sustainability reporting specialists. By setting rigorous standards – drawing on Slovenian law, international frameworks and leading global bodies such as IFAC, IVSC, Accountancy Europe and TEGOVA SIA ensures that its members uphold the highest levels of competence, ethics, and independence.

Beyond professional development, the Institute plays an active role in shaping legislation and advising policymakers, helping to ensure the Slovenia's regulatory environment reflects both national priorities and international best practices. SIA also fosters international cooperation, working closely with European and global organizations to align Slovenia’s standards with EU directives and globally recognized best practices.

Certified Auditors

SIA serves as the central  professional body for auditors in Slovenia, promoting quality, ethics, and continuous development. It provides training, professional support, and represents the auding profession nationally and internationally.


Certified Accountants
(Preizkušeni računovodje)

This section includes highly qualified accountants who deliver statutory and managerial accounting services. They  ensure compliance with accounting standards and assist businesses with  financial reporting, taxation, and consulting.


Certified Tax Advisors
(Preizkušeni davčniki)

Specialists in  taxation, these professionals advise companies and individuals, ensuring compliance with the latest tax regulations while helping to ethically minimize tax liabilities.


Certified Information Systems Auditors

This section includes experts in auditing and assessing information systems. They safeguard  cybersecurity, data integrity, and compliance with IT governance standards.


Certified Valuation Experts

Valuation professionals evaluate assets, businesses, and property, supporting decisions in mergers, acquisitions, and financial reporting


Sustainability Reporting Specialists

These experts focus on nonfinancial reporting, particularly environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors. They help companies  integrate  sustainability metrics into their reporting frameworks in line  with European reporting standards.
